insightful insights between me and owow at 4 o'clock in the morning:

- grapes are more perishable than raisins
- bread is more perishable than crackers
- fresh flowers are more perishable than dead flowers
- fresh foods are more perishable than canned foods

philosophical reasoning:

it is better to keep chunky milk than fresh milk...  you don't have to worry about chunky milk going bad anymore
